FAQ

🐄 What is tallow?

Tallow is rendered beef fat, rich in skin-nourishing vitamins A, D, E, and K. It closely resembles the natural oils in our skin, making it deeply moisturizing and ideal for sensitive or dry skin.

🐄 Where do you source your tallow, herbs, and oils?

We source our beef fat from a trusted local farm that processes its own cattle, ensuring it’s as fresh and high-quality as possible. Every batch of tallow is personally rendered by me, by hand. The herbs used in our products are homegrown, wild-harvested, or locally sourced with care. We use only organic or premium-quality pure essential oils, and our added oils—like jojoba, coconut, castor, and olive—are always 100% organic

🐄 Why don’t you use preservatives in your products?

We choose not to use preservatives to keep all products as natural, gentle, and skin-friendly as possible. Many commercial preservatives can be harsh or irritating, especially for sensitive skin. Instead, we rely on the natural stability of ingredients like tallow, beeswax, and jojoba oil, which have  long shelf lives and inherent antimicrobial properties when stored properly.

📦 What sizes and containers do you offer?

We offer various sizes depending on the product:

Whipped Tallow & Creams: 4oz, and 8oz amber glass jars

SPF Sun Care Body Butter: 4oz, and 8oz amber plastic jar; safe for use at beaches and pools

Salves: 1oz tin with screw top lid, 2oz plastic amber jar, and 4oz glass amber jar

Lip Balms: Standard twist-up tubes

Sample Pack: 1oz tin with screw top lid

Containers are BPA-free, food-safe, and reusable or recyclable.

🐄 My Whipped Tallow Arrived Melted—What Should I Do?

No need to worry—melting can occur during transit, especially in warmer temperatures. While the texture may change, the product remains completely safe and effective to use. To restore consistency, simply stir gently and place it in the refrigerator until firm. For optimal texture, you may re-whip the tallow at home once it has cooled. All whipped tallow products are carefully packaged with reusable ice packs to help preserve their whipped form during shipping.

🐄 How Much Do I Need To Apply?

A small amount goes a long way. Due to the richness and purity of tallow, only a pea-sized amount is typically needed for most applications. Start with a little—you can always apply more if needed. Whipped tallow can be applied as needed, but a general guideline is to use it 1-2 times daily. For severe dryness or conditions like eczema, you may need to apply it 2-4 times daily. It's also safe to apply additional layers on dry spots as needed.

🐄 How should I store my tallow products?

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. While refrigeration is not necessary, it can help extend shelf life and preserve the whipped texture of certain products. Always ensure containers are sealed tightly when not in use. To maintain product integrity, use clean, dry hands or a sanitized tool when applying directly from the jar, as introducing moisture or contaminants may promote bacterial growth.

🐄 What’s the difference between infused oils and added essential oils?

  • Infused oils are made by steeping herbs in a carrier oil over several weeks to several months. In solid carrier fats/oils the herbs are kept warm at a low temperature for one day to several days depending on the herb/fruit. Both methods gently transfer the medicinal properties into the carrier oil.
  • Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts, offering strong scents and therapeutic benefits.
We use both depending on the product's purpose—always with care and intention.
